to to add /admin to login
Our network admin has setup something so only one person can login at a time to a server, because certain apps only need to be started once or they crash and logoffs are not always available since the apps need to stay running.
they want us to mstsc in as servername /admin .
Is there a way to add the /admin to advanced tab of visionapp in some way, havent found this in the forums after looking and its sort of critical we have the option. Thanks in advance.

RE: to to add /admin to login
Since everyone is using the same credentials, why don't you just add the "Administrator" as a "Public" credential?

If we login as mstsc /v:servername its pretty simple to login that way using visionapp. if we use mstsc /v:servername /console (which they dont want us to do right now) or mstsc /v:servername /admin, its not readily apparent how to set that in visionapp. Any thoughts?

Are you using vRD or mstsc.exe? I'm not clear on how you are connecting to the remote systems.

RE: to to add /admin to login
We want to be able to use vRD for that.
Right now we have to use mstsc.exe in this fashion using the run command:
mstsc /v:servername /admin
Looking for a way to incorporate the /admin switch in vRD if you know of a way.

RE: to to add /admin to login
If you are logging in to a W2K3 machine, there is the option to specify a console connection in the RDP connections tab for the server object.
RDC 6.1 did away with the "Console" connection and replaced it with /admin. For W2K3 sp3 machines, there is no change, you still connect to the console.
Does that answer your question?

RE: to to add /admin to login
Its very possible it answered the question. Just to confirm, if we go to properties then click the rdp tab, then right under where it says port 3389 we check the console check box, that would mean we are getting in as
/admin
and not
/console
is that correct because from what i understand if we try /console its a problem with the network people and so forth. thanks in advance.

RE: to to add /admin to login
Hi,
yes you are right. That is the one way to do so.
Second way if you are just like to remotely access the console of a server only from time to time to do so over the context menu of a connection object. Means you can create a connection object to normally work over RDP for example. And if you like to run the console session, just right click on that object and select Connect with options|Connect to console (only RDP).
Furthermore please use the search function within this forum, then you will find a lot more of hints to your issue, like that http://forum.visionapp.de/showthread.php?tid=1382
Grüße/Regards
Thomas
